Join us for an exciting day of technical theatre workshops! These hands-on in-person workshops introduce a variety of techniques for those interested in expanding their technical theatre knowledge.

Backstage Bootcamp is open to high school students and K-12 educators with an interest in theatre.

Workshop descriptions

  • This class will cover the foundations of stage lighting and basic strategies for tackling any lighting situation.

  • This class will cover strategies for creating period costume looks on a minimal budget.

  • This class will cover basic practices for styling and maintaining wigs.

  • This class will cover the basics of stage management.

  • This class will cover basic principles of mixing sound
    for live theatre and musicals. Some prior experience
    with audio will provide the best learning outcomes
    but all are invited to participate.Item description

  • This class will be an introduction to
    the CADD software Vectorworks.

  • Part I of this class will cover the basic elements and principles of design.

  • Part II of this class will discuss how the elements and principles of design are applied to lighting, scenery,
    and costume, as well as directing.

  • Learn the skills needed to participate in the ThesCon BACKstage Challenge competition.

  • A Q&A session about developing application materials and strategies to pay for school.
